What is Val-Tex and why is it used on valves?
Val-Tex is a US manufacturer of valve lubricants and sealants used to maintain and repair plug valves, ball valves and gate valves in oil & gas service. Over time, valve seats and seals can dry out, harden or become contaminated, causing leakage. Val-Tex products are injected through a fitting into the valve cavity to restore the sealing surface and prevent stem leakage — often eliminating the need for valve replacement.
What AFFF concentration should I use?
3% AFFF is used in fixed fire suppression systems (proportioned to produce 3% foam solution). 6% AFFF is typically used in portable equipment (hand proportioners, foam buckets) and some aviation applications. Your fire engineer will specify the correct concentration and application rate for your system.
